Grant Application Process

External Grant Application Process

Salt Lake Education Foundation has funding available for innovative school programs, field trip expenses, after-school programs, mental health initiatives, student wellness initiatives, and more. Use this link to apply. Your direct supervisor must approve your request before it routes to our office for consideration. Be sure your request follows district policies and includes a detailed budget and total number of people served under the program summary. We require a final report to be submitted for future funding consideration. Please allow 2 weeks for a response.

Internal Grant Application Process

If you would like to apply for an external funding opportunity (grant/sponsorship), you must first obtain permission from the Salt Lake Education Foundation. Use this link to notify us of your intent to apply for funding to an outside source. This will help ensure we are not overwhelming funders with multiple applications. To apply to outside funders, you must use a 501(c)(3) EIN number. You may only do so if the foundation approves your use of our nonprofit designation, requests follow district guidelines and policies, and if your request aligns with funding priorities for the district and your school.

DonorsChoose

Our district uses DonorsChoose, a crowdfunding platform, for classroom grants and supplies. The following full-time employees are eligible to post projects: teachers, subject-area teachers, librarians, counselors, social workers, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and school nurses.
When a project is fully funded on this platform, DonorsChoose will ship all awarded materials (supplies, equipment, technology, etc.) directly to your school. All awarded materials are subject to Salt Lake City School District’s policy and belong to the district. The teacher has stewardship of the materials, but not ownership.
Eligible employees will need to create an account on DonorsChoose. Apply here. There is no limit to the number of projects you can post. There are many matching funds opportunities through DonorsChoose by other foundations, celebrities, businesses, and more. The Salt Lake Education Foundation will send out email notifications when we receive advance notice of such opportunities.
