Nikkel Orton, Special Education Teacher of the Year 

Nikki’s lessons extend far beyond curriculum standards. She prepares students for life, community, independence, and belonging with creativity, intention, and an unwavering belief in their potential.

John Telford, Buildings & Grounds Employee of the Year 

John stands out for his reliability, initiative, and pride in his work. He consistently goes above and beyond by anticipating issues, responding quickly, and taking full ownership of problems until they’re resolved. His work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact is felt in every classroom, making him truly deserving of this recognition.

Kristi Runyan, Office Personnel Employee of the Year

Kristi demonstrates active involvement within the Clayton community through her consistent and enthusiastic participation in a wide range of events and initiatives. She volunteers her time to support the school play, contributes to the success of Honors Night and the 8th Grade Celebration, and actively engages with the PTA. In addition, she plays an important role on the school’s Sunshine Committee, helping foster a positive and supportive environment for staff. Her willingness to give her time and energy to so many aspects of school life highlights her dedication to building a strong, connected community.

Alyssa Lingen, Hourly Employee of the Year 

Alyssa consistently prioritizes the needs of her students at Highland Park and demonstrates a keen ability to recognize both areas of concern and positive behavior. She remains highly attentive to her surroundings and is proactive in identifying students who may benefit from additional supports, including counseling, social services, and food assistance. She approaches every situation with professionalism and compassion, conveying genuine care and respect for the well-being of all students.

Melissa Gallegos, Child Nutrition Employee of the Year

Melissa knows each and every kid at Escalante by name. She makes sure that everyone is fed, loved, cared for, stood up for, and so much more. She just comes in and does her job, but we all see her going above and beyond everyday.

Justin Ravago, Transportation Employee of the Year 

Justin is an integral part of the transportation department. As our dispatcher, Justin is the first line of communication with our families and he does an amazing job of listening and solving issues. Within the department, Justin is a joy to be around, always happy and willing to lend a hand.
